A Very Special Holiday Card
I did a holiday show at a senior facility. The day after the show I did a Chair Zumba class at the same facility. After the class, one of the residents that was at the show the night before came up to me and gave me a Christmas card along with a big hug. This woman has dementia and she is fighting it with such dignity and grace. This card brought tears to my eyes and means the world to me. I wanted to share the contents of the card with you because it speaks volumes as to why I so enjoy doing the work I do now…

Dear Danny, wife and accompanist. To God be the glory! Every time you visit our home you make him smile. Just want you to know how deeply you are appreciated here. We, the residents, love you. Tonight’s Christmas presentation was especially beautiful. Your voice was wonderful and clear, your accompanist was right on target and with you all the way. And so was your absolutely lovely wife. Thank you so much for doing your homework. The concert just flowed along without any glitches. I’m always thrilled to know you have your wife with you. She is an added attraction.
Love the way you speak to our seniors. You never put them down (just tease them a little). You always lift us up. The information you supplied about each song was wonderful. And I always understand every word you sing.
Thank you again, my friend. May the Lord surround you and your wife with His wonderful love on this celebration of Jesus’ birthday day. Yours was the best concert we’ve seen this Christmas so far. It was an opportunity of a lifetime! Performing on stage at Lincoln Center was huge for me! And if that wasn't enough, after the performance we were invited to do a command performance for the Chinese Consulate!
